It seems that Google has been getting a lot heat these days. Besides the Google Buzz episode, they've also been accused of borrowing the word "NExus" from some science fiction writer.
In this youtube video, a beautiful and sexy geek (i think she's dutch), hotforwords, explores the etymology of the word Nexus. She argues that nexus is an old latin word that in english means to bind. The words network and internet actually originiated from the english root word "ned", which came from the latin nexus. So in the end, it seems that the word nexus is an apt way to call a phone since it to bind users or to join users in a network.
about the girl, it's the first I saw hotforwords today. Her videos are really cute but you gotta wonder if she's just faking her geekiness. Anyway, I guess she's doing some good stuff since a lot of guys stand to learn something from her videos: sex sells, and we all learn better when we enjoy what were doing.
Anyway, from a marketing perspective, I think what she's doing is a great way to garner some eyeballs and then redirect some of the traffic to her sponsors. (see the outbound links)... that's just genius! im subscribing now :)
